LITHUANIAAlytaus Panemunes Progimnazija having 430 students (aged 7 – 14) provides basic secondary education. It consists of two departments: primary school and lower middle school (classes 1 – 8). The total number of staff is 50.The school aims to develop a proper learning environment to provide pupils with a solid start in education, skills development, knowledge and also shaping their personality. Our curriculum covers compulsory national subjects. Promoting our cultural and historical heritage, intercultural and environmental awareness, physical activity and healthy lifestyle is an intergrated part of education at school. The school also offers quite a number of after – school activities to the students. The school is located in an industrial town with a high rate of unemployment and low incomes, therefore some of our pupils have little possibilities to participate in social and cultural life. Many of our students are talented and highly motivated, at the same time we have quite a number of students having learning difficulties, also those who are not motivated and misbehaving. We work closely with parents to weed out any problems with the students. The school is an active participant of the eTwinning programme. In the previous years we successfully realized two Comenius projects as well as several bilateral cultural projects. Since 2016 we have been successfully participating in Erasmus+ programme.Teachers in our school attend various types of educational and professional seminars and workshops in order to achieve higher level of their educational and professional skills. They explore and apply modern methods of teaching. Our staff is open-minded and willing to cooperate. Teachers involved in Erasmus+ team have experience of working in most national and international projects carried out by our school. The new project is a great chance to broaden pupils’ horizons, to exchange knowledge and communicate with other students coming from different realities and cultures. The opportunity to work with teachers and students from other European countries and learning from each other would further motivate and engage our pupils from a wide range of backgrounds and help them to become better global citizens. The teachers will use the results and experience of the project as a base of ideas to introduce innovations at school.
